Good move.
My 2006 clk 350 gets 32 mpg on the highway and is very comfortable. It's good for a couple of hundred thousand miles
without major problems,

Re: my dear wife and the rest of you have convinced me to go buy a NEW Mercedes

Just keep in mind that one strategy that's sure to get tried sooner or later as this all works its way out is price controls on items like gasoline. And price controls mean rationing. And rationing means make sure whatever you get has decent gas mileage.

They can fix the price as low as they want, if the stations don't have anything to sell, it doesn't help. Anybody else here remember waiting in line to buy $2 worth of gas?

If I were you, I'd go out and buy a "lightly used" Mercedes. Gotta be a lot of those on the current market. Save thousands..
