The "Big Ben MBS put" is more of a tourniquet than a band-aid

It was timed well and did seem to stop financial stocks from falling so quickly. In this respect it worked well, at least judging from 1 days' results.

However, like a tourniquet, it cannot remain in place without unintended side effects. If removed, the hemorrhaging resumes.
The underlying source of the bleeding is not addressed.

The patient will be saved, but one or more limbs will likely be lost in the process.
