The decision by a sovereign wealth fund to move into euros lends support to reports over the past day that several Middle Eastern countries may be reconsidering their dollar peg, despite recent comments by the governors of the central banks of Saudi Arabia and the UAE that they were not doing so.

Moving assets into euros would be a logical first step for a country considering de-pegging from the dollar to avoid a depreciation in the value of their assets, currently held in dollars.
