It's easy to imagine how that could become relatively inexpensive some day not too far off.

I hope so - it would sure be a nice "appliance" to have.

The neighbors and I have thought really seriously about adding a solar system to the well house - but the cost is still way too high. Not all the solar systems fault, the batteries are the biggest cost - we could just have the meter run backwards, but the issue is to avoid power outages which cause the water column drop and stir up silt. The city power only comes to $25 each per year for water - so spending a small fortune on batteries and a new storage shed gets outrageous quickly.

I am building a house now...will have one in a couple of years. I was kidding of course with the cheap skate comment.

Fun - I did that 10 years ago - seemed I was writing checks for $35K each month for a long time. Kept upgrading materials, carpet, no hardwood, no travertine stone floors - yeah that's nice. I have been known to wear the "cheap skate" label with pride - you don't get a bank full of cash by spending it recklessly.
