Lower dollar should help US multinationals. Salaries will
decline on a relative basis, they have seen a rather dramatic
drop already. I don't see depression coming, rather, the
final sharp drop of the buck, as the Fed socializes gains
from the housing bubble. We are in a recession already.
A much lower buck should lead to some stabilization of the
housing prices - RE shoud rise in some places, fall in
other places. They will raise to defend the dollar once the
dollar drops enough to support housing. The drop could be sizable
from here. I don't think a national housing meltdown will be
allowed, as that will bring depression, rather, they will try to
inflate the problem away.
