Well I have a lot less of a problem with

"If he supports (or doesn't support) X, Y, or Z, he's not a real conservative (or liberal, or whatever)"

than with

"If he says X, than he's not "black enough".

The latter just feels ugly. The first does not.

Also conservative, liberal and many other political labels are somewhat vague, but they are based on political ideas, so the first type of statement is more likely to be accurate.

If you set up your political tests in too narrow of fashion they might be inaccurate and/or problematic, but they are still more reasonable, and less ugly than the racial comments IMO.
