The simplest way to transport and store hydrogen is in the form of ammonia.

The problem is that hydrogen does not represent savings or pollution reduction.

The hydrogen has to be generated. The generation of hydrogen makes more pollution than is saved when consumed.

One possibility would be harvesting energy from the gulf stream and storing that harvested energy in ammonia for transport to the coast.

Still to expensive. But lower pollution.

Ammonia is made by pressurizing hydrogen and nitrogen over platinum. This is a reversable reaction where nearly the same method could be used to extract the hydrogen later.

It's just that it's soooo damn toxic. It's like someone has a fist in your lungs.
