"it either feels creepy or it doesn't." Yes, that's what I was suggesting. But it still seems to me that people generally have a need to rationalize those feelings. Rationalize or normalize rationally? I believe that my understanding makes me extraordinarily more aware of the risks than most people. Rationalize implies having to justify an irrational belief or fear. Rational implies that I have thought about it and understand good reasons to worry.
