it does seem odd that anyone with the political ambitions and astuteness of Obama wouldn't have foreseen the havoc this minister might wreak in a vicious campaign.

I think there is plausible deniability for everything except for Wright being part of the Obama campaign. History is history but Wright's role in the campaign is present time.

Shoot, just noticed it's half past Olbermann... have I missed O?

Well, you missed Obama's appearance. My wife thought it was terrific; I gave it a B or a B+. I liked what he was trying to say, something very much like Sybs point, this guy is something like a part of our family but I deeply disagree with some of the things he says. They are not my views. You can hear my views, see what I do, etc. And I wish to be judged by that. The rest is a kind of guilt by association.

McCain would do well to make the same kind of statements about Hagee and Parsley, even though his relationship with them is completely different.

We're most likely going to see this stuff from now to November if Obama wins the nomination. Asked about that, Obama just grinned and said, of course, he knew it was coming. They were ready.

But these kinds of responses are judged best by how they look a week or two down the road.

I think he's doing precisely the right thing by doing overkill on his media exposure tonight--Olberman, Hannity & Colmes, and then 360. The contrast with the way Kerry handled these things couldn't be sharper.

I am wondering what the press will do next. You think they will go after Obama's dentist, doctor and garbage collector to see what heir political beliefs are and thereby figure out what kind of Obama's political leanings are.
