No, I'm agreeing with you about the background stuff and it's formative role. But he shares with other blacks in the US, the experience of being treated as "black." That's really all I meant. If you are offering the background as a way to explain Obama's remarkable equanimity, then I also agree with that. He carries within him the anger than I suspect almost every black in this country has but he also carries a remarkable, to repeat myself, ability to handle it. Just watched 360. David Gergen was very, very good. He just keeps impressing me.
