Fair enough. It will be very interesting to see how this pans out. If the banks continue to hold the mortgage rates higher then necessary, during a period when the people, the govt and common sense would dictate that these rates should come down to ease the pain of those suffering (at for a short period of time), then I think there will be a big backlash coming.

Every one expects the banks to be greedy. It comes with the territory. However, if they intend to cause undue hardship at the worst possible point in time, then they will eventually have to pay the piper. Its one thing to make billions of dollars when times are good. Its another to do it during a time of great hardship.
