Obviously, as this CNBC article points out, Bear-Stearns will file for bankruptcy if a finacially sound buyer is not found.

No doubt this will pass on the pain to the Bear-Stearns counter-parties, of which there are many. Perhaps many of them will need to file for bankruptcy.

It's not like Warren Buffett and others have not suggested this is the likely eventual outcome.
