That's what economics tells me.

It seems hard to believe, given the recent past, but that's the standard play book.

The money the Fed is creating is only partially offsetting the deflation.

<<MOTHER of all DEFLATION is coming>>

wonderful !

i had just told my wife that, should we be fortunate and deserving, blessed and otherwise foolishly gifted, i might be able to buy her in Shek O en.wikipedia.org (end of the road on HK island) a stand-alone house with garden, next to beach, overlooking from rock bluff, complete with natural salt water swimming pool ... and have in-law units for mistresses and visiting friends

as to unloading gold ... deflation is great for gold, especially if said deflation is triggered by fiat paper monetary crisis

as to Euro, do not have any to sell

Dollars? have enough.

ETFs on the short side? loaded.

The innocent will be spared, relatively speaking, and the biblical punishment is reserved for the spendthrift wastrels and their prime evil leaders and assorted cheer leaders ... only a few on this thread, and i do not have to explicitly mention their names, just as I do not find it necessary to point out the putrid whale sandwich in the cat litter box in the middle of the living room on the coffee table.

P.s. that said on what needs to be said, i do note that a bunch of not unsavvy ppeople did call in today to basically say, "j, you did a great trade on gold, but it may be time to get very liquid" and so i will ponder over the issues, ruminate over the implications, and maybe do something about this and that, rearranging the ammo in the fox hole.

p.s. i will spare your ears on what my wife's response was :0)

just received from credit suisse that basically says, in a lot of words, ""days if not weeks" from "brutal fall" in commodity prices"

Elmat out for two days the Thread veer into the wrong direction! Prices in USD, USD devaluated. Priuces quoted in USD up. How can deflation happen?

Since TJ menion brutal fall in commodities:
Price of oil up as OPEC needs more USD for a the same amount of oil. How price of oil go brutally down?

Only if USD skyrockets. How can USD skyrocket of it is copiously being pirnted? Note to Elroy's economics:
If a given good is being available in vast quantiyies its prices go down.

Therefore vast amount of USD being print points to USD down. And cummulatively prices of commodities up.

"we were able to fix the order at 7800 USD/ Ton copper whereas it is now 8600 USD/Ton. Also we have fixed it to you at 7800 USD/Ton. We can in no way accommodate the price increase. We count on your understanding of this procedure, as it is the standard practice in the market because the prices of copper make major fluctuations continuously. No supplier or manufacturer"
