Are you trying to suggest if your pastor was a raving lunatic, you would continue to support the place and attend for 20 years? Even if you put aside the notion the church really didn't exist until Pastor Wright's ideals became the driving factor to obtain followers like the Obama family. It just doesn't pass the common sense test someone would not know of his crazy antics and hate America message. It's not "guilt by association", it's "agreement by association". Wright's crazy sermons were the defining characteristic of the church. And Obama and his wife picked it. They could have picked dozens of other churches, but chose this one church, because they agreed with the message they were hearing and agreed with the messenger. That's how just about everyone I know chooses a church to attend regularly if they weren't raised going to it. They attend a few times, listen, take in the message and depending on whether they agree or not, decide to stay. It's their church, the Obama family church. Denial of the association toward the ideals of the pastor would be amazingly naive.
