It would be interesting to see how he would handle this mess if he were tossed into the role of Fed Chairman or President. I recall him proposing in Fortune Magazine several years back a system of trade credits to prevent the USD from weakening. It might not have worked, but at least he was concerned about the LT financial status of the US instead of merely try to forestall offshoring by devaluing the currency.
