And the more they beat it up, the more spooked the clients and the lenders get, and the more the clients get spooked, progressively more of them will take a powder with their accounts to avoid getting their cash snared up in a bankruptcy, and then a blow-up of the firm for lack of cash resources will come true even if there was nothing really wrong in the first place. Rumors can kill.
