Bush-Cheney crossed the line into Fascism. Let me explain. Fascism means a rightwing dictatorship based on an intense military-industrial power trip combined with fervent nationalism and outrageous scapegoating of other ethnic groups or political opponents. Fascists also demonize the press, any honest debate, civil rights, Constitutions, congresses and dissent. Anyone who disagrees with them they will try to destroy, physically or otherwise. Fascists want an absolute ruler, a bully type who talks tough and intimidates with (im) moral clarity where everything is black and white, right or wrong, his way or the highway. His followers worship him almost like a God, but though religious symbolism may be used, there is nothing righteous about these fascists because they are totally amoral. They are only in it for their own power trip and their own money. The fascist bully leader satisfies the rightwing mob's blood-cravings by leading them into battle against other countries, making up lies and excuses for the invasion. The bully will usually pick a country he knows he can beat up on that has some wealth he can plunder (Saddam picked Kuwait, Bush picked Iraq), then glorifies himself and gives himself full credit for the "heroic" victory. Though the dictator is probably cowardly himself, he dresses in warlord's uniforms and carries on like a master general. (see Bush on aircraft carrier, Saddam firing his shotguns. Fascist dictatorships are known for having a singular loud-mouthed bully leader but they are really cabals, usually made up of elitist industrial types, such as big weapons dealers, big oil, munitions factories, etc. They also put a lot of effort into propaganda, telling the public lies constantly and repeating these lies over and over to attain a mass brainwashing. Sound familiar? It is because Bush-Cheney are at least halfway there, and would like to take it a lot further.
