Hey Mannie,

We have two offers from Windmill companies for our land. We have a bit under a 1000 acres and the companies think that we may have ten to twelve spread across the ridge that runs down the edge of the property.

Add that to the stripper well that has been there since 1962 and it is great residuals to add to the yearly take. We (sister and I) are holding off signing waiting to see which company is going to be the big dog in the area. One will win out with most of our neighbors. We will go the way that they do.

Most of the farmers out there are brilliant businessmen. They have had to be making $3.50 wheat pay their bills for the last forty years. Most of them have been trading commodities using satellite feeds from CQG, here in Glenwood, since the early 80's. The old country bumpkin is long dead.

Nice photo.... u been out on your bike again? Must have healed up well.

Bill

Mannie,

That math on the wind turbines doesn't seem to add up. If one blade is .5 mil and they have at least 3 blades plus all the other hardware and installation costs. What's the average electric bill per household in the area ? Maybe 100-300. Also I wonder what the life span of those units are - being exposed to such harsh elements? Also there would need to be insurance costs to cover problems such as this : koreus.com

Beautiful image Scott!

Geotherm & Wind can supply all the power demanded by our country...the only solar power needed is the solar energy to grow our food.

Although I heard on NPR this week "100 square miles of Solar panels could satisfy all of the nations energy needs."

I'm a little skeptical about that figure but even if it took 1000 or 10,000 SM that's not a terribly huge amount of space to contain our energy needs in the US.
