I don't even recall my first exposure to the PC mindset - my mother had to tell me about it.

I was quite young, 3 maybe, and my parents and I were getting on an elevator. There was a black man on the elevator and I said something along the lines of "hello you donkey." I doubt it had anything to do with his race, as I had a black babysitter and thus was used to being around black people. Nevertheless, my parents were horrified, lest this total stranger might think THEY had raised a child prone to racist outbursts. I received a spanking, which no doubt assuaged my parent's fears that they would be thought to have raised a racist child. To the best of my knowledge, I've never called anyone a donkey ever again.
