We had to come back to Auckland so a daughter could go to work to earn money to pay for the mountain. We mind the 8 month old daughter while the 2 year old suffers separation anxiety at a "care" centre. Helen Clark struts around enjoying life at all the fun places at our daughter's expense, while our daughter trying to raise two children works. I know you have trouble understanding that and have no sympathy and would be in favour of cannibalism and outright slavery. Most people do like it. Said daughter probably voted for it without realizing the causal relationships and unintended conequences of her vote. Most people are in favour of it. Fortunately, they get it a lot more than I do. It amazes me that they sit in traffic jams, caused by their own decisions, and can't understand even such a direct correlation as that. For example yesterday we left a little late [wives are not necessarily on the ball with things like this] so were caught in rush hour leaving Tauranga, which meant waiting in a queue for 15 minutes to get over the little Tauranga Harbour Bridge. There never used to be queues other than very brief ones because they had about $1.50 toll on it. People dislike paying money so only those who though the trip worth it would travel. The money was used to build motorways around Tauranga. After some years the whining masses who want free lunches, free car factories and free bridges voted/put political pressure on to have the toll removed. Instantly there were queues. Now there is no more money to build new roads and another bridge, which will have to be funded by stealing from our daughter who will no doubt stop work as soon as possible or go to Australia where Helen Clark isn't. So there are big traffic jams. The annual cost in wasted person and vehicle time, not to mention fuel consumption and air pollution, is huge. The toll should have been applied only during congested times and made $5 or whatever price maximized revenue. There are swarms of similarly stupid ideas as free bridges, free car factories and free lunches, arranged by governments and the mindless mobs who put them in power. The USA public for example was gung ho to invade Iraq and get the WMDs which were used to blow up the Twin Towers. Of course there were no WMDs and that was obvious beforehand. Heck, Saddam even said there were none. The gullible public believed King George II instead. Mqurice
