About 10 years ago on the way home from work a tornado was up ahead of me a 1/2 mile or so away. So I pulled over and was watching it when a Sheriff pulled up and blocked the road in front of me. He and I stood and watched it destroy the new feed mill and take out about 15 houses. Most impressive. The next day they were saying high winds so I called the meteorologist at the station and said gee dood I guess a tornado is high winds but why don't you just call it a tornado. He said because it wasn't one. I said really, a sheriff and I stood and watched it hit and I can promise you it was a tornado. He said nope, didn't see it on doppler radar so it was just wind.

I laughed and said it's no damned wonder you can predict a chance of rain when it's pouring out, your a moron.

He didn't laugh:)

I think that is why she wouldn't call it a tornado, because there was not warning ahead of time, and she was afraid the city of Atlanta would be sued.
