No, you are right. But McCain will have to defend the administration at some level and the democrats can just shoot at everything. Usually the party in power in the White House either gets credit for the economy or the blame. And it rubs off on the candidate of the same party.

Could it make a 1% swing. Sure.

Veto every spending bill to come across the desk that has an earmark - only McCain could stand the heat.

Begin to draw down (slowly) in Iraq or have the Iraqi's begin to start paying for our presence - same shared burden model used in places like South Korea.

The economy will right itself - this is far less of a hit than previous crisis's.
