WASHINGTON, March 18 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush will acknowledge on Wednesday the Iraq war has been fought at a high cost but will insist a U.S. troop buildup has opened the door to a "major strategic victory" against Islamic militants.

If you must win, you must win.

Once you realize there are 150 million Muslim militants, you carefully announce there is no yardstick that can be used to declare victory.
Then you suddenly realize that there is no time limit, someone else owns the field and wrote the rules, and you have to win to leave.
So you go ahead and declare victory.

The door is open to a "major strategic victory" against Islamic militants. Who dreams up this bs?

Let's see, the score is 50,000 down and 149,950,000 to go. Yup the door is open alright.

Quick line up! Who wants to go thru the door first?

I am for fighting wars by the clock. The end time to be agreed to prior to the start of hostilities. That way whoever is ahead when time expires - wins.
And all the players can go drink beer, eat nachos, and visit their buddies graves.

"For the men and women of Reverend Wright's generation, the memories of humiliation and doubt and fear have not gone away; nor has the anger and the bitterness of those years. That anger … occasionally … finds voice in the church on Sunday morning, in the pulpit and in the pews."

This part of Obama's speech really bothered me because, by attending the church, he implicitly supported Wright's hateful message.

Black people of Wright's generation undoubtedly suffered the fear and humuliation Obama describes. But that is no reason, in this day and age, to continue to express it in a racist and intolerant manner. Not only is it morally wrong, it is self-defeating. Proof: Just look where it has taken Obama's campaign, into a debilitating circus of spin and justification which is falling on many deaf ears.

It is much like adults blaming their parents for their failings, making sure that their children hate their grandparents.

Really stupid, really lame.

I would have been very happy to have seen Obama reject, without qualification, what Wright stands for and call for blacks to not dwell in the past but to look to the future. I didn't see such a strong, unqualified rejection. I saw more mollycoddling, more spin.
