As a footnote, BIS used to have stock that was publicly traded on the OTCBB. A friend had some for several years. He got quarterly reports on a lot of interesting features of the global financial system, and did well on the investment, too, since they made a sweet tender offer for all shares in 1998 or 1999, and went private.

Too bad I didn't buy some- it would have been intereseting to attend a shareholder's meeting in Basel. I might have had to splurge on an more expensive suit than what I owned at the time, though. <g>
