My doctor was after me to get a physical for nearly 2 years, some 10 or 12 years ago, and I just kept putting it off. When his son came into the practice I had to see him for something. His insistence on my getting a physical came along with a good scare about cancer lurking undetected "somewhere". After the physical, he followed that with more insistence that I schedule the sigmoid exam, where he REALLY scared me, finding several polyps. They are nearly always pre-cancer. Not something to mess with.
