Saw on the news that we had some "mud-rain". Cars were shown lined up at car-wash establishments to clean up the mess. The source is thought to have been ashes from fires in Mexico that were brought down from the atmosphere by the rain.

I was working on the 27th floor of the Transco Tower in Houston when an 8.1 earthquake struck Mexico City in 1985. It caused the building to creak and groan like it did when a strong wind was blowing. I looked outside and saw no evidence of wind and later learned it was the earthquake many hundreds of miles away.
