Paxville was an absolute disaster. And you're right -- most
of AMD's gains were against Paxville. But Tulsa
was only good enough to stop Intel's bleeding.
Which is why I call it a dud.

Here's what Anand said about Tulsa:

anandtech.com

"In applications where the large L3 cache doesn't play a big role, the relatively poor server performance of the "NetBurst" architecture becomes visible again: our MySQL benchmark runs a lot better on the AMD Opteron and Intel's newest Core architecture Xeons. Power consumption is still rather high though, and the HP Opteron server consumed over 230W less.

In a nutshell, the new Xeon MP will have a hard time convincing people who are leaning towards an Opteron server or want the best performance/watt."

Any honest comparison of Tigerton/Dunnington vs. 4S
Barcelona will come up with a very different looking
picture than the above Tulsa vs. Opteron remarks.

Tigerton is a *FAR* larger improvement over Tulsa
than Barcelona is over DC Opteron. So the competitive
situation has changed dramatically. And Dunnington and
2S Nehalem are around the corner to change it further.

4S Barcelona will be more than capable against Tigerton as benchmarks will show now that OEMs finally have them.

You're starting to act like Pete. Saying something does not make it true. It appears to be nothing more than wishful thinking. Do you have any data to back up this claim?
