China had not opened their society enough to deserve an Olympics. The problem is they are a 1600 pound gorilla and she has displaced the 400 and 800 pound gorillas.

We should expect China's client states like Iran, Venezuela, North Korea etc. to bring heads of state and other 'luminaries' to Peking. If things continue on the current trajectory the heads of state list might reflect the list of countries that need China. (Does that mean President Bush will be there? or at least Bernanke?)

Tyrannical rule is difficult to maintain. I suspect it is more difficult than even democracy to maintain.
