working class white folks in question believe obama that his position is 180 from wright, but do view him as an apologist for an anti-american voice in the black community. I have heard folks say he went to that church for 20 years and said nothing. He had his kids there (apparently not). His wife said she never was proud of US. Why did he remove flag pin he always wore. And they conclude he is a leftist even if not mean spirited as wright. Obama is now viewed as the extreme lib and in a three way view hillary occupies the middle. Talk is that edwards might endorse hillary. He is popular among same folks.

Only Obama can depict the issue in such a way that we will start to see the racism issue in a very different way. His ABC Nightline appearance, his scheduled appearance on Larry King Live today brings out the intellect in him to view this from a different plane.

Those who would never have voted for him are the ones making the most noise. But as your post said, there is no slide in the polls amongst those who decided to vote for him. Hence, when he is in lead, if the movement is frozen, he continues to have the delegate lead.

But we just have to be patient to see him start to gain momentum. After all "Rome was not built in a day" and hence America will not start seeing racism the Obama sees it the day after his speech.
