The critics(right wing radio and blogs) are distorting Obama's speech..saying he gave excuses for Blacks...what he did was give explanations..in the end he exhorted both Blacks and Whites to get off their butts to work together to solve health care, etc..

Exposes CIA Complicity In Crack Epidemic
Day One: America's 'crack' plague has roots in nicaragua war
Colombia-San Francisco Bay Area drug pipeline helped finance CIA-backed Contras Backers of CIA-led Nicaraguan rebels brought cocaine to poor L.A. neighborhoods in early '80s to help finance war -- and a plague was born. Published: Aug. 18, 1996
Day Two: Shadowy origins of 'crack' epidemic
Role of CIA-linked agents a well-protected secret until now How a smuggler, a bureaucrat and a driven ghetto teen-ager created the cocaine pipeline, and how crack was "born" in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1974. Published: Aug. 19, 1996

The ghetto profits from the crack went into automatic weapons, gang fights, and dead bystanders.
Then, too, the drug laws are set up to provide harsher punishment for blacks; the penalty for the white folks' drug, coke, are much less severe than that of the poor, usually minoruity folks, crack.

You have a problem with facts, or you deliberately distort.

Kristol wrote in today's NYT column:

Many white Americans seem concerned that Mr. Obama, who seems so reasonable, should enjoy the company of Mr. Wright, who seems so militant, angry and threatening. To whites, for example, it has been shocking to hear Mr. Wright suggest that the AIDS virus was released as a deliberate government plot to kill black people.

That may be an absurd view in white circles, but a 1990 survey found that 30 percent of African-Americans believed this was at least plausible.

That was 18 years ago. Do you think the percentage would be the same today? When was that stat first reported? Certainly not in 1980.

Obviously, today a lower percent would think it at least plausible. And, "at least plausible" does not equate to "believe".

And "release" does not mean "create", and no one could create "aids". Before "aids" there is HIV, but you don't refer to a virus.

So why are we digressing from the economic issues and talking about what blacks feel and what the black community should be believing in. I thought we were voting for the POTUS and not a President of the Black community.

Are you folks all OK in your communities economically, your friends and neighbors all happy with jobs, planning their next vacation like they did 4 years ago. Are you sure that someone in your neighborhoods in not up all night wondering if their son or daughter, spouse or dan or mom will come back alive from Iraq?

After all, it is not a Black President that brought this nation to where it is, a state where Osama is smiling in his cave telling his followers how successful their attack was on 9/11 by crippling this nation and knocking it down.

Have you wondered about that?
