TOKYO, March 19 (Reuters) - Japanese electronics maker Toshiba Corp (6502.T: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Wednesday it expects NAND flash memory chip prices to fall about 35 percent in January-March from the previous quarter, and about 40-50 percent in the year from April 1.

It said that the weak dollar would hurt its NAND operations, but that its overall earnings would not be affected.

Toshiba on Wednesday cut its annual pretax profit outlook 29 percent citing NAND price falls and costs to pull out of next-generation DVDs. (Reporting by Mayumi Negishi)

A 35% drop for the quarter is just stunning. Just an incredible plunge... especially when you consider that NAND prices are supposed to fall 50%-55% for the year. So that leaves us with 5% drops each for the next 3 quarters. Sheesh... It'll never happen... but that's JMHO... BWDIK, if you were to ask me if prices would fall 35% in the March Q I would have said no....
