To bomb Iran in the last year of a failed presidency would be foolish.

Better for the forces that benefit from military expenditures to wait until a more politically expedient time.


That is precisely the opposite of the rationale that most seem to have on why Bush would bomb Iran. The thinking goes that since neither Bush nor Cheney is running that they dont need to justify it politically. They would be able to do it now while a future Republican president wouldnt have the freedom of action.

Of course, that might not apply to McCain since most believe he would be a one-term president.
