If the question is only whether the worst statements made by Wright are equally "bad" as statements made routinely by Duke, then I guess there's no argument to be made. It's just a matter of what one finds offensive.

I'm not sure why that would be the standard by which to judge these issues, though.

Apparently, some people feel that Wright's statements are so bad that nothing else in his entire lifetime should be considered in judging him, and that every member of his church should be proscribed from holding public office because they haven't left his church. I'm not saying that's how you feel. I'm just saying that's how it appears to me, and that it appears ridiculous.
