AMD downsides are never a factor in his predictions.

He declared Barcelona a HOMERUN hit before it was even shipping by a single Tier 1 OEM.

Extra cache on Shanghai will not save it against Nehalem which will have significant IPC improvements over C2D and massive bandwidth improvements.

Both are future to-be-released products, but I believe the risk of a lithographic process change (in the former) is much greater than the risk of an architectural change (in the latter).
