Since your service firm is unlikely to be the holder of the mortgage, who is going to issue you a clear title paid in full ? Good point. Think I will contact Countrywide and request proof that they hold title. The bank actually tried to pull a fast one yesterday. At the last minute they made up some lame excuse about why they were unsure about lending the full amount we requested, despite the fact that both our credit ratings are above 800. They seemed sure we would still take the loan. I told them no because even better deals are coming soon.
