It's too simplistic to say it's all just down to bandwidth/locks and how would you go about proving the incremental effect of either on performance ? You could just as simply argue that it's all done to cache or lack of it.

And if the top end of your predictions come true,
then Nehalem opens up a 20% lead vs. the current
situation. Don't you think that eventuality
would seriously impact AMD's already difficult
server situation?


Not as much as not having quad-cores at all ;-). But yeah, Nehalem will not be good for AMD and they really do need Bulldozer asap.
