You could be right. A drop in oil price or using less oil
would definitely benefit USD, since oil is a large share of
the current account deficit.

Another factor is that shipping costs go up, making local production more cost effective. The production cost in China is still much less than in the US, so this hasn't been much of an issue yet. It may result in production moving back to Mexico from China, however.
