Of course there is, the video was likely put together by enemies of Barack O to hurt his presidential candidacy campaign. There is every reason to believe they chose the absolute worst material of Wright's 20 year career that they could find. Please tell me why was the congregation so enthusiastic about the hate speech? If what was going on was unusual, why weren't they shocked and speechless? Do you think you could speak and hour or two per day without a script for 20 years, and not product some incredibly offensive and/or stupid material? I could do that and never once shout "God damn America". In fact, I've never uttered those words in near 56 years. And remember, the question is whether the worst 15 minutes of Wright's 20 year career indicates that Obama is a failure. Of course, it doesn't. At worst, it indicates bad things about Wright. It also says bad things about Obama in that he choose to associate with this church and this man. And you keep bringing up one or two sentences as if they are more important than a 20 year career. That's totally ridiculous, but that's the desired affect of the enemies of Obama who created this video. "God damn America" is an important sentence. Thats why Wright repeated it 3 times. Obama gave the ammunition to his political opponents. Obama is not only never going to be elected President of the US, he's not going to be re-elected when he runs for the Senate again. No idea, I only saw the video once in passing on TV. We like to suppress what disturbs us. ......if its the worst 10 minutes of 10,000 hours of unscripted public speaking, it's a weak attack using guilt by association. Thats your political judgment. I should probably suggest a wager here but I won't. And the really weak thing is that the words in the video reflect poorly on Wright, Obama has denounced them and indicated what he heard week in and out from Wright was your normal "love thy neighbor and worship God" stuff which most of us hear each week in church. Someone who preaches "love thy neighbor" would never utter the things Wright has said. Like I said, I have never uttered the words "God damn America" in my 56 years. Would anyone else who has ever uttered those words please reply? I suspect hardly anyone has ever uttered those words, unless they were quoting Rev. Wright. If my financial advisor spends two hours giving me good investment advice, but in a financial presentation to some group he throws out one sentence about how he "hates upper class bitches who won't date a working guy like him" and the group laughs, if the investment advice is good I'll probably keep using his service. That's normal, I think. Am I sexist if somebody catches this exchange (when I wasn't even present) on film? No. Am I even implicated in anything about the exchange? No. You should reconsider the services of that advisor as he's an idiot. Why would someone blurt out something like that especially in front of a group? You're imagining a world where everyone occasionally has Tourette's outbursts they just can't control but which don't really mean anything. Most of us don't live in an insane asylum. Come on, no one has ignored it. No, but isnt the gist of what you're saying is we should ignore it? The weird thing is why you are trying to make the 10 minutes the definition of the man Because "God damn America" is so damn extreme. Its not like he dropped a book on his foot and said "Shit". and also (even more weird) why you are trying to make the 10 minutes indicative of a failure of Obama's. Because Obama compared him to the grandmother who raised him in explaining why he couldn't disassociate himself from Wright and his church. That implies a strong emotional connection. Think of all the people you have close relations with, surely one of them holds what we would consider some offensive views. Does that make you an idiot, or just another normal human? I have some relatives who do, but you can't disown relatives. I wouldn't have a friend who had the offensive views Wright does. I wouldn't go to a church whose pastor said the things he did. ---------------------------------------------------------- You know Obama is really an arrogant ass. He is running for President of a country whose national anthem he can't make a show of respect for, he proudly says he doesn't wear a flag pin in his lapel while he's running for President because that would be "false patriotism", is married to a woman who received an elite education in America but has never been proud of her country until her husband started winning elections, attends an extremist racist church and won't sever his membership from it. Connect the dots. Sure some of the things I just mentioned are "just" symbols. But they're symbols that mean something important - that I love and respect this country. He won't even make a show of it.
