I haven't read the God Delusion, but last year I read The History of God which was fascinating. The writer, Karen Armstrong, examines the history and the scriptures of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam to trace the evolution of the concept of God. It's basically in the tradition of the question "Did God create man, or did man create God?", but it's rich in nuance and broadens one's perspective of Islam. If the writer had an agenda, it was hard, IMO, to detect....and this is always my preference.
