Here is a lengthy fact sheet about Aids, it's theorized origin from a Simian Aids Virus ( SIV ). avert.org I had a step brother that died of Aids in 1986. He claimed that gay men who were unattached could be highly promiscuous and have relations with as many as 12 to 15 different partners a night ( hard to believe but other gays have told me the same ). I think the disease would spread quickly in the gay population under those circumstances. Most people are carrying the virus before they are symptomatic so they could spread the disease unknowingly......especially before the virus had been discovered and determined to be the cause of the disease. It is a human virus and therefore has no bias toward sexual preference. Most virus's are host specific but can easily mutate as they use our DNA and RNA for their personal needs. They are obligate intracellular parasites. The above article explains it well.
