There are some amazing heroes among the Latin American liberation theologists. There was one- he had an amazing name- and now I can't remember it. I've been trying to remember it since this discussion started.

Miguel Obando Y Bravo!!!!
How could I forget a name like that? Yet I did for a few minutes there. Anyway, he's the first person I learned about, when I learned years ago (college, I think? Or maybe Mother Jones in high school) about liberation theology.

At the time I learned about him, he was pretty much a liberation theologist- then, apparently, he wasn't. Go figure.

I think he might have been on Oprah in the 80's. I'm going to check that out.
