That's a great site, isn't it ... very pro-mining, lots of facts but always the spin, a person should keep up with the anti-mine professional greenie sites as well, they have their own spin, but the odd fact too

See the comment at the bottom there by 'Chris', talking about the sovereign wealth fund idea, i think this might under the right circumstances be the best all-round approach ... say as part of a comprehensive stability agreement the government was to put up ten per cent of mine capex, and be carried for another five, giving them fifteen per cent equity in the operation ... this aligns their interests into the venture, gives them a window into the books and issues that come up, just generally gets everybody on the same page

Problem with resource revenue coming to a government where rule of law is shakey, though, is it can lead to huge corruption, and all sorts of bureaucratic nonsense, as it's a source of funds for which they're not directly held accountable by the electorate ... and really, the major benefit should go to people of the immediate region, not be siphoned off to a national capital ... they'll get infrastructure improvement out of it though, and of course jobs
