Lots of interesting articles over the weekend out there about the extent of regulation needed with respect to "new types of institutions" and instruments, without defining or explaining. If we see continued disruptive markets, the calls for effective and efficient regulation will start to get pervasive and persuasive. We may never convince the real industry appologists, from the Anniebonny amateurs to the professional or even paid propagandists for hedge funds. But change seems to be close with respect to those who thrive on manipulation to get through the regulatory cracks.
