>>You are right - it is my home town bias of how I see things. I am very suspicious of why Richardson jumped in today. I am very jaded of the motives of politicians. I trust you can see the same bias in your views.<<

Bob -

I'd say it's probable that Richardson has been offered "consideration" for whatever post he wants, by both the Clinton and Obama camps. I understand that such things have been known to happen in political campaigns. I wouldn't state it as a certainty, however.

On the other hand, I didn't make the claim that Richardson made his move solely on the basis of moral courage.

I often find comments by comments of Falwell, Robertson, and Hagee, and their ilk, to be at least as reprehensible as anything I've heard from J. Wright. Yet even though McCain has actively sought the support of such men and not denounced their more virulent pronouncements, I am not saying that his judgment is terrible and that he should not, on that basis, be elected President. I'm not saying that he's revealing his true beliefs by associating with such people.

I believe that looking at Wright's overall record, listening to and reading more than a few minutes clipped out of a couple of his sermons puts me in a better place to judge him than those who haven't bothered to do as much.

I note that Obama has categorically, on many occasions, said that he denounces the offensive things Wright has said, and that he has written books which outline his philosophy very well.

So no, I don't see that my position is just a matter of being biased. I honestly feel that I'm applying reason and logic here. (Though I'm sure everyone thinks that.) I'm not claiming I have no biases, of course. We all do.

But I am saying that just claiming that a person who disagrees with you is biased isn't the same as making a cogent argument against their position.

I also know that I am perfectly capable of changing my mind when presented with real evidence and logical arguments.

So have at it, if you wish to.

- Allen

I'm always suspicious, too, Bob. But I believe Richardson has been a little critical of the Clinton campaign in the recent past and made other indications he was leaning toward Obama.

I would have thought, though, that most supers would be on hold right now, waiting for the next elections and watching the polls on Obama.

Maybe Richardson sees himself as a savior and capable of stopping the bleeding. Who knows....but I thought it was odd if not actually suspicious.
