Well, that passage is indeed controversial and much discussed by even casual readers of the Bible....fraught with meaning as they say.

My thing recently has been to reread the Bible while simultaneously trying to hold in abeyance all my former teachings and interpretations, etc. My goal was to try to discern God's character for myself.

One thing I discovered was how often the Old Testament prophets not only argued with God, but also actually changed God's mind! It was almost funny, and I found myself thinking 'this is so Jewish'....the chutzpah thing. I loved it.
