I think Obama's too bright to stay hung up on Rev. Wright's grievances. But is he able to get emotional separation as well as intellectual separation? He might; we just don't know. He might bemusedly tolerate Wright's rants as one tolerates a "crazy old uncle" - that phrase too might have been psychological truth - or he might remain too bound to the community of Trinity United to challenge its beliefs. We don't know. We don't even know if Obama knows.

It's nothing that makes me dislike Obama as a person but it surely does not recommend him as Presdiential material. A man has to know who he is deep down to withstand the high gusts of the White House.
