I enjoy a visit now and then to a lil southern church where they sing and yell and wave their arms.

and i said hallelujah

say it

hallelujah

what was that?

hallelujah

i wasn't raised in it, so not bound by it, so... maybe can enjoy the positive features more than someone hamstrung by it.

but as a non-heterosexual, of course it pained me when the topic in these churches turned so much to the evils of the likes of me. and how america was damned because of the likes of me. see... how i to take rev wright the way some have when at least he says it is because of iraq, and slavery, and the indians... in these churches, in so many churches, they say america is damned because as a gay woman i have not been cast out of the 'family', so america is suffering. them good cristian folk didn't do nothing wrong beyond allowing 'my' existence as a person with a love and a life. killing innocents in iraq was not the damning factor. make all the 'queers' stright or at least silent and celibate, and america will have god's blessing again. ayup. make any sense? but that is what it is all about.

and some whites, who have so much ever so much power than any black people, worry about some guy going on about chickens to roost? or that white people started aids? like black people could really take power from the whites. or would actually turn on them if they got power. but that is the fear of an oppresser... that the oppressed, if ever released, would do unto them as they did to them. but... the ultimate message is one of forgiveness and following the will of christ... and that is to love your enemy and never defeat them.
