That's true, he is half white as well so he must relate to both races.

I do think it's important that we talk about these things without calling each other racists.

I was going to bring up a point but decided against it cause I could just imagine how some would interpret it my questions as being racist.

I think many of us have valid questions relating to race that need to be discussed but few can handle the frankness of the dialogue.

Are we racist if we want to discuss a legitimate racial issue that bothers us?

I dunno. There are shades of the "model minority" there :-) Didn't the Asian Americans get mad for precisely that reason? I seem to remember a kerfuffle about that.

Sort of a "NOT all our kids do well in school and get in to the UC" rant.

Some of the people said that if a white person used the phrase "typical black person" everyone would be outraged.

For evoking outrage, the proper term for that is "those people." <g>
