>>I have seen enough to appreciate that the majority of Wright's sermons and actions were positive in nature.

You and another poster here raised the assertion that Obama is half white. Why would this be an issue, I mean really if a unknown white man was running for President and he found himself in an identical church setting with his spiritual leader would it be any different?<<

Quehebo -

Good for you for taking the time to become better informed about Wright.

As for your question, I was speaking to a specific charge that his use of the term "typical white person" was racist, since it was coming from a black man.

>>Obama should have found another church or convinced his spiritual leader that his negative rantings were undoing his good teachings. We already see plenty of evidence that these types of black leaders have led their community into a very bad condition.<<

I disagree completely with that first statement, and the second is dubious. You yourself have already acknowledged that the majority of Wright's sermons were positive. You really have no evidence that the few statements which you take as being negative have had a greater effect on his congregants than the positive ones.

You're also ignoring the many community programs Wright's church has been involved in. Isn't George Bush a big proponent of Faith Based Initiatives?

Moreover, your bald statement that the reason the black community is in a bad condition is because they have had poor leaders is insupportable. That's an opinion you have formed, but I don't see how you can support it with facts. But I can point to at least one of Wright's congregants who has done a rather good job of succeeding in this world. At least two, in fact. Barack and Michelle Obama. They have gotten the positive message, and they are spreading it around.
