Unless it's a property that has investment potential, I agree with you- it's way cheaper, and a much smaller headache, to rent.

Every time my wife and I talk about owning a second house we come back to how much cheaper it is to rent when you want to get a change of scenery and seasons.

The fantasy my wife and I have is to spend six months of every year in a different city. And travel around the surrounding country as well.

It's on the agenda once she retires.
